Canadian broadcaster New Tang Dynasty Television (Canada) has finalized an agreement with bestselling author and former Fox News Executive Editor John Moody, his publisher Brick Tower Press, and producers Washington Square Entertainment, Fun Republic Pictures, and Yonderland Productions to develop a scripted drama series based on Moody's acclaimed Hui Trilogy of books. The series, currently titled Of Course They Knew…, is a geopolitical conspiracy thriller that explores the silent collapse of Western society under the influence of a covert global campaign driven by disinformation, artificial intelligence, and psychological warfare.
The project is being developed for NTD (Canada) as part of the broadcaster's expanding slate of premium scripted drama with international appeal, in association with the Canada Media Fund. David Cormican, International Emmy-nominated producer (Tokyo Trial, Northern Rescue), will serve as showrunner alongside Emmy-nominated Dwayne Hill (Northern Rescue, Mean Girls).
“Partnering with NTD on Of Course They Knew… allows us to bring an urgent and deeply relevant story to the screen at a time when the boundaries between information, propaganda, and power have never been more blurred,” said Cormican. “John Moody's trilogy reads like tomorrow's headlines, and we believe it has the scope and scale to become a truly global television event.”
Joe Wang, President of New Tang Dynasty Television (Canada), added, “We are excited to collaborate with Washington Square Entertainment and this exceptional creative team to develop a series that speaks directly to the political and technological realities shaping the modern world. Of Course They Knew… aligns with our commitment to telling stories that examine the forces influencing freedom, truth, and democracy on an international stage.”
Author John Moody, whose career as a journalist and editor has spanned decades of American political history, noted, “This story was written as a warning, but it has become increasingly clear that the world is moving closer to the reality it imagines. I'm proud to be working with my agent Alan Morell at CMP and this team to bring the Hui Trilogy to television in a way that captures both its scale and its urgency.”
The television adaptation is being developed as a multi-season dramatic series under the working title Of Course They Knew…, with Cormican and Hill attached to co-write and executive produce. Executive producers include Cormican and Hill for Washington Square Entertainment, Sophia Sun (Claws of the Red Dragon, The Unrestricted War) for Yonderland Productions, and John Moody. Four-star General Wesley K. Clark, U.S. Army (Ret.), former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO (SACEUR), has been engaged as a consultant on the series' military, intelligence, and international political storylines.
The development and rights agreement was negotiated by Alan Morell of Creative Management Partners (CMP) on behalf of the rights holders, together with Washington Square Entertainment, Yonderland Productions, Brick Tower Press and NTD. Mr. Morell additionally represents General Clark.
