tZERO Enforces Patent Portfolio Against Securitize, Identifies Additional Infringements in Tokenized Capital Markets

tZERO Group, Inc., a pioneer in blockchain-based financial infrastructure since 2014, is taking aggressive steps to enforce its intellectual property rights in the rapidly evolving tokenized capital markets. On June 15, 2026, the company announced it had sent a cease-and-desist letter to Securitize, Inc., alleging infringement of two key patents: U.S. Patent No. 11,216,802, titled “Self-enforcing Security Token Implementing Smart-contract-based Compliance Rules Consulting Smart-contract-based Global Registry of Investors,” and U.S. Patent No. 11,394,560, titled “Crypto integration platform.” These patents are part of tZERO’s broader portfolio of 105 patents across 23 families, which the company has been strategically reviewing since April 2026.

The enforcement action targets Securitize’s DS protocol and Vault Registrar, but tZERO’s investigation extends further. The company has identified products from at least six other market participants in sectors such as Regulated RWA & Digital Asset Securities Platforms, Institutional Infrastructure, Prime Brokerage & Liquidity Aggregators, Decentralized Sequencing, Fair Ordering & Crypto Infrastructure, and Decentralized Exchanges & Specialized DeFi Dark Pools that likely infringe on its patents. tZERO expects to send demand letters to these parties after completing its analysis. The patents under investigation include those covering crypto multiple security asset creation and redemption (U.S. Patent No. 11,704,733), upgradeable security tokens (U.S. Patent No. 11,410,159), consolidated order books from multiple asset exchanges (U.S. Patent No. 11,436,673), and others.

tZERO’s portfolio, built through substantial investment over years, focuses on enabling compliant, scalable, and interoperable tokenized capital markets. In addition to the patents involved in enforcement, the company highlighted several other patent families that underpin core infrastructure technologies. These include the Crypto Multiple Security Asset Creation and Redemption Platform (7 patents worldwide), which provides blockchain-based creation and redemption for tokenized funds and multi-asset digital securities; the Consolidated Order Book from Multiple Asset Exchanges (3 patents), which aggregates liquidity across venues; the Decentralized Trading System for Fair Ordering and Matching of Trades (2 patents); and the Obfuscation of Intent in Transactions Using Cryptographic Techniques (9 patents), which enhances transaction privacy.

The enforcement actions and portfolio highlights signal tZERO’s intent to protect its market position and shareholder investment as the tokenization industry scales. “tZERO and its investors have dedicated substantial time, research, and capital over the years to develop a leading intellectual property portfolio,” the company stated. By asserting its patents, tZERO aims to ensure that its innovations in regulated digital asset securities are respected and that it can monetize its IP through licensing or other commercialization opportunities.
