Trilogy Metals Advances Arctic Project with Federal Permitting Application

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) announced that its 50/50 joint venture, Ambler Metals LLC, has taken a significant step toward development by submitting a Clean Water Act Section 404 application to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Arctic Project. Located in Alaska’s Ambler Mining District, the Arctic Project is a high-grade copper deposit with an average grade of approximately 5% copper equivalent. The company also intends to pursue coverage under the FAST-41 program, which is designed to streamline federal permitting timelines for major infrastructure projects.

The submission marks the beginning of the federal permitting process, a critical milestone for advancing the project. Ambler Metals is concurrently progressing engineering, environmental baseline studies, and field activities to support a future investment decision. The Arctic Project is part of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP), which Trilogy Metals holds a 50% interest in through its joint venture with South32, a globally diversified mining and metals company.

The Ambler Mining District is recognized as one of the richest and most prospective copper-dominant districts in the world, hosting polymetallic volcanic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. The district spans approximately 190,929 hectares and includes two primary deposits: the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit.

Trilogy Metals' vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while respecting subsistence livelihoods. The company has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, which provides a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. This partnership is essential for aligning project activities with the interests of Indigenous peoples and ensuring sustainable development.

The initiation of federal permitting is a pivotal step for Trilogy Metals as it seeks to advance one of the world's highest-grade copper projects. With copper demand expected to rise due to electrification and renewable energy infrastructure, the Arctic Project could play a key role in meeting future supply needs. The company's progress also highlights the strategic importance of domestic mineral resources for the United States.
