Total Wireless Becomes First U.S. Carrier to Include Western Union Money Transfers in Select Phone Plans

Total Wireless, a no-contract wireless provider powered by Verizon's 5G network, has announced an official partnership with Western Union to include a free monthly money transfer in select phone plans. Starting today, customers with Total Wireless MAX 5G BYO, MAX 5G, and ALL ACCESS plans will receive a monthly money transfer at no additional cost, covering the transaction fee. This marks the first time a U.S. wireless carrier has integrated a money transfer benefit into its plans, allowing customers to send funds to over 200 countries and territories through Western Union's global network.

The partnership addresses the financial realities of communities that have historically been underserved. Millions of people in the United States send money abroad each year, averaging more than 12 transactions annually. By eliminating the transaction fee, Total Wireless aims to help families save money and ensure that every dollar sent goes further. The benefit is available through westernunion.com or the Western Union app, with recipients able to receive funds at over 360,000 payout locations, bank accounts, digital wallets, and cards.

“Total Wireless was built on the belief that a good wireless plan should do more for its customers,” said David Kim, president of Verizon Value. “Incorporating a Western Union money transfer into our plans reflects something we deeply believe: no one should have to choose between staying connected and caring for their loved ones.” The plans range from $25 per month (MAX 5G BYO) to $60 per month (ALL ACCESS) with auto-pay, including unlimited 5G data, unlimited hotspot, and unlimited international calling and texting to over 200 countries, backed by a five-year price guarantee.

The partnership extends beyond the plan benefit, with Western Union co-promoting Total Wireless through its customer communication channels, including the app, email, social media, and in-store digital displays. “For generations, Western Union has helped people move money across borders because we understand what each transfer represents: not just dollars, but our mission to make financial services accessible to everyone,” said Jesse Mory, senior vice president of Strategic Partnerships at Western Union. “By partnering with Total Wireless, we make it easier for customers to support those who depend on them.”

Total Wireless, part of the Verizon Value prepaid brand portfolio, operates 2,000 exclusive stores nationwide and offers plans with access to Verizon's 5G Ultra-Wideband network. The company's Total Spark program awards grants to local nonprofits supporting working students. Western Union, a global leader in cross-border money transfers, serves over 200 countries and territories and nearly 130 currencies. This collaboration represents a new chapter in telecommunications, designed to meet the financial and connectivity needs of customers who rely on affordable ways to stay connected with loved ones across borders.
