Tim Draper, the billionaire venture capitalist known for early investments in Skype, Tesla, Baidu, and Bitcoin, will deliver the keynote address at Investment Crowdfunding Week (ICW) 2026, organized by Kingscrowd. The event, now in its second year, takes place virtually from April 13 to 15, and is free to attend. Draper's participation underscores a pivotal moment for private market investing, as regulatory and technological shifts enable broader access to asset classes once reserved for institutional investors.
ICW 2026, themed "Raise the Bar," brings together founders, investors, and industry operators for three days of live company pitches, investor education, and founder programming. Chris Lustrino, founder and CEO of Kingscrowd, said, "Getting Tim Draper to open ICW is a major win for our industry. He's one of the few people who's been vocal about this space before it was obvious. His perspective on where private markets are heading is exactly what our audience needs to hear."
Twenty companies vetted by Kingscrowd's analyst team will pitch live across sectors including Climate Tech, MedTech, AI/SaaS, CPG, Pharma, AgTech, and Construction. Pitches are grouped into five sessions, with audience voting determining finalists for a Championship Pitch Round on April 15. The winner receives $5,000 toward their raise.
The event also features two educational tracks. The investor track covers due diligence, deal evaluation, exchange listings as an asset class, and a fireside chat on the creator economy with Scott Kitun of GigaStar. The founder track addresses digital marketing for crowdfunding campaigns with Jason Fishman of Digital Niche Agency, capital stack strategy with The Capital Department, compliance foundations with CrowdCheck, and exchange listing strategy for post-raise growth.
Kingscrowd is a data and research platform that aggregates investment data from over 120 platforms, covering more than 11,000 crowdfunding raises totaling nearly $5 billion. Registration for ICW 2026 is available at https://kingscrowd.com/event/icw-2026/.
The significance of Draper's keynote lies in his track record of identifying structural shifts in capital markets. His involvement signals that investment crowdfunding is maturing into a legitimate channel for both raising and deploying capital, with implications for startups seeking alternative funding and investors looking for early-stage opportunities beyond public markets.
