The Storm Windows, the Vermont-based trio praised for their energetic live shows and dubbed the “Folk Ramones” by Spin Magazine, have released a new single titled “There’s a Reason for Saturday Nights.” The track was recorded live at Tank Studio in Burlington, Vermont, on November 1, 2025, and is available today on all streaming platforms. The single serves as the first release on the PGRoots label, a new imprint of Paper Garden Records, and precedes the band’s full live album, scheduled for release on August 21.
The recording features the core trio of Rob Mathews on guitar and vocals, Don Mathews on upright bass and vocals, and Erik Anderson on drums. Audio production and mixing were handled by Ben Collett and Julia Rangel at Tank Recording Studios. The Storm Windows describe their music as “Power-Folk,” a blend of folk, rock, and jazz influences that critics have labeled “New Americana.” The band’s name is inspired by a John Prine song title and reflects their resilience as veteran musicians who continue to perform and write about their experiences.
