Stabilus SE, a global leader in motion control solutions, announced today the consolidation of its industrial automation business under the new brand umbrella Stabilus4Automation. The move brings together the expertise of the Stabilus, ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern brands to offer integrated solutions for automated production processes, with a specific focus on the fast-growing robotics market.
The company aims to leverage synergies across the group to develop scalable automation solutions, including end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) from Destaco combined with advanced damping technology from ACE. According to market studies, the global addressable market for end-of-arm tooling, gripping systems, and robotic tooling solutions is approximately €3 billion and is expected to grow at double-digit rates in the coming years. Stabilus targets €500 million in revenue from new, high-margin innovation products over the long term, with the Automation segment playing a significant role.
“Industrial automation is an important growth area for Stabilus,” said CEO Dr. Michael Buchsner. “With Stabilus4Automation, we are leveraging synergies within the group to further develop our technology portfolio and offer integrated solutions for demanding automation applications, including robotics.”
The company already collaborates with more than 100 partners worldwide in robotics and has developed a 360-degree drive solution for robot joints in a pilot project. Existing Stabilus components for controlled movement, damping, and vibration reduction are increasingly deployed in industrial robotics, particularly in highly dynamic handling and manufacturing processes. The company also views humanoid robots as an attractive research field.
One example of the integrated approach is a handling solution jointly developed by Destaco and ACE, featuring an EOAT that incorporates ACE’s MC series miniature shock absorbers. This enhances the handling of varying package sizes while improving protection of peripheral equipment and overall process efficiency. “We view industrial automation as an integrated system—from gripper and vibration isolation to drive solution,” said Jurgen Roland, Head of the business unit Industrial Components.
In-house production will also benefit from these automation solutions, as Stabilus plans to gradually implement selected technologies in its own plants to optimize manufacturing processes and incorporate practical experience into product development. The company expects this to drive efficiency and innovation.
The announcement underscores the strategic importance of automation amid trends such as skilled labor shortages, rising quality requirements, and the need for efficient manufacturing. Stabilus sees additional growth prospects in industrial end markets with long-term investment logic. The company’s global production and sales network, with over 7,000 employees and €1.3 billion in fiscal 2025 sales, positions it to capitalize on these opportunities.
