(OTCQB: SIGY) has released a note from CEO and inventor Jim Joyce detailing CardioDialysis, a medical device designed to continuously clear inflammatory and pathogenic molecules from the bloodstream to reduce major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, and current therapies like statins reduce MACE by approximately 25%. In contrast, lipoprotein apheresis devices can reduce MACE by 75-95%, according to the American Heart Association, but their complex, multi-component designs limit widespread adoption.
CardioDialysis aims to overcome these limitations as the first technology to fully integrate plasma separation and therapeutic adsorption within a single device. It can be deployed on dialysis machines already located in over 5,000 hospitals and 7,500 dialysis clinics in the United States alone. Unlike existing systems such as the Kaneka LIPOSORBER, which requires multiple components including a plasma separation column, two cartridges, custom tubing, a blood warmer, and various pumps and fluids, CardioDialysis is a single-component device that does not require replacement fluids or additional pumps. It processes the bloodstream with greater efficiency and addresses a broader range of cardiovascular disease targets.
The LIPOSORBER has administered approximately 600,000 treatments to over 6,000 patients, but access is limited to fewer than 60 specialized apheresis centers in the U.S. CardioDialysis, by leveraging the existing dialysis infrastructure, could dramatically expand patient access. Mechanistically, it enables continuous broad-spectrum clearance of inflammatory and pathogenic molecules, potentially reducing the incidence of heart attacks and strokes.
Given that 15-20% of MACE result in death, the successful clinical advancement of CardioDialysis could save thousands of lives annually. Sigyn Therapeutics is developing the technology for multiple indications, including sepsis, life-threatening viral infections, neuroinflammatory disorders, and cardiovascular disease.
