Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM), a biopharmaceutical company focused on advancing therapies for neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders, was featured on the latest BioMedWire Podcast. Co-founder and executive co-chair Anthony Durkacz discussed the company's lead drug candidate, Lucid-MS, which targets mobility loss associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) by addressing nerve damage—an area he believes remains unmet by current treatments.
Durkacz also highlighted the company's commercial product, unbuzzd, designed to accelerate blood alcohol metabolism and currently available in the U.S. market. The product is marketed by Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., in which Quantum retains a 19.84% ownership stake as of March 31, 2026, along with royalty payments of 7% of sales until $250 million is reached, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum retains 100% rights to develop similar products for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
Looking ahead, Durkacz noted the upcoming Phase 2 clinical trial for Lucid-MS, which will be the first study to evaluate the drug candidate in MS patients following Phase 1 testing in healthy volunteers. Lucid-MS is a patented new chemical entity that has shown the ability to prevent and reverse myelin degradation in preclinical models, which is the underlying mechanism of MS.
The company's pipeline also includes other innovative assets for challenging neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders, as well as alcohol misuse disorders. Quantum is dedicated to building a portfolio of biotech solutions through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc.
