The Chicano Hollywood Film Festival announced that Pure Flix Familia, the upcoming Spanish-language and bilingual streaming platform from Great American Media, will serve as an official media sponsor for its second annual event, scheduled to take place over five days in Pomona, California.
The festival, which celebrates Chicano and Latino storytelling, brings together filmmakers, content creators, and entertainment executives for independent film screenings, industry panels, workshops, and cultural showcases. As part of its involvement, Pure Flix Familia will present a fireside chat titled "Faith, Family & the Future: Introducing Pure Flix Familia," hosted by festival founder Johnny Murillo. The session will feature Great American Media executives discussing the platform's vision, its commitment to faith and family programming, and its plans to collaborate with Latino filmmakers and content creators on original stories.
"Pure Flix Familia's participation represents exactly the kind of meaningful industry connection we want to create through the Chicano Hollywood Film Festival," said Murillo. "This is an opportunity for our filmmakers and creators to learn about a new platform that is actively looking to serve Latino families and collaborate with Latino storytellers."
In addition to the fireside chat, Pure Flix Familia will host a "Spill the Café Storyteller Lounge" where attendees can learn more about the platform and its upcoming launch. The company will also sponsor the festival's Community Impact Legacy Award, presented during the Closing Night Awards ceremony on August 2. The award honors individuals who demonstrate leadership and service that strengthen families and uplift communities.
"We are honored to join the Chicano Hollywood Film Festival and introduce Pure Flix Familia to such a dynamic community of filmmakers, creators, and entertainment leaders," said Denise Crayne, Chief Financial Officer of Great American Media. "Our goal is to build a welcoming home for faith- and family stories while creating meaningful opportunities for Latino storytellers to bring new voices, perspectives, and experiences to audiences."
The second annual festival will showcase more than 140 films, along with panels, workshops, and special events. By celebrating both pioneers and emerging voices, the festival aims to create a space where storytelling, culture, commerce, and community converge.
Pure Flix Familia's sponsorship comes as Great American Media expands its footprint in the faith-based entertainment space. The company, which also operates Great American Family, Great American Pure Flix, and Great American Faith & Living, has positioned itself as a leader in this genre. The new platform will feature faith- and family-centered films, series, and original programming tailored for Latino audiences.
"Pure Flix Familia will create a welcoming home for Latino families to discover uplifting stories that reflect their faith and values," a company spokesperson said. The platform aims to collaborate with established and emerging Latino creators to develop culturally relevant content.
The festival's involvement with Pure Flix Familia highlights the growing intersection of faith-based entertainment and Latino storytelling, offering new opportunities for creators in this niche.
