LOS ANGELES, CA — A new analysis by Parksy (parksy.com), a free parking marketplace, reveals a stark divide in parking availability around America's largest stadiums and arenas. The company counted its listed parking spaces within five miles of twelve major venues, uncovering a pattern that underscores the challenges of event parking in both urban and suburban settings.
At the top of the list, Madison Square Garden in New York City boasts 1,986 listed options, followed by Soldier Field in Chicago with 1,583 and Fenway Park in Boston with 587. In contrast, suburban venues lag significantly: AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas has 107, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas has 96, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey has 58, and Miami's Hard Rock Stadium has a mere 18.
This disparity is structural. Downtown arenas inherit the existing parking infrastructure of the surrounding city, with numerous garages and lots available. Suburban stadiums, however, are often ringed by residential streets with little to no commercial parking nearby. SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, falls in between with 277 options, out of Parksy's total inventory of over 32,000 spaces nationwide.
The missing supply, according to Parksy, is already built: the driveways of nearby homeowners. Parksy allows these homeowners to list their driveways or unused spots for free, with no posting fee, no commission, and no lease paperwork. The owner sets the price, keeps every dollar, and chooses the dates they want to rent.
Daniel Battaglia, founder and CEO of Parksy, explains that stadium neighborhoods are where parking arithmetic fails hardest. "Demand arrives eighty thousand cars at a time and supply is whatever the official lot holds. The difference is standing on residential concrete twenty feet from the sidewalk. That is not a shortage of parking. It is a shortage of introductions."
