A new survey commissioned by Borden Cheese finds that American parents are feeling increased pressure to create magical summer moments, with 72% of respondents believing summers used to be simpler in terms of activities and expectations. Among that group, 89% said it is important for their children to experience simple summers. The survey highlights a desire among parents to reclaim family time and reduce stress through practical hacks.
Jenny Mehlman, senior director of marketing, cheese, taste and flavors at Dairy Farmers of America, noted that parents often get caught up in the daily hustle and forget to enjoy the little moments. Borden Cheese aims to help parents drop high expectations and embrace a relaxed summer. According to the survey, 81% of parents plan to use hacks to simplify summers.
One top suggestion is allowing more flexibility with children's routines. Nearly half of respondents (45%) are embracing later bedtimes, slower mornings, or less structured playtime to encourage spontaneous adventures. Another approach is prioritizing fun over perfection: 39% of parents said they plan to be more lenient with self-imposed expectations, focusing on connection rather than elaborate plans.
Simpler meals are also a key strategy. One-third of respondents plan to incorporate easier meals, and 84% rely on quick solutions like mac and cheese, deli meat wraps, and cheese and cracker boards at least once per week. Borden Cheese Individually Wrapped Singles offer family-friendly recipes and weekly giveaways to support stress-free summer eating. For example, the Juicy Lucy Cheeseburger Sliders provide a simple yet satisfying meal option.
The survey underscores a broader shift toward simplicity, with parents seeking to relax expectations and embrace the mess for genuine fun. Borden Cheese encourages families to visit their website for more easy meal ideas and giveaway participation.
