Onsetto Raises $9 Million to Help Banks Activate Business Accounts with AI Workflows

Onsetto, a fintech platform designed to help financial institutions win and activate business banking relationships, announced today that it has raised $9 million in Seed II funding. The round was led by Canapi Ventures, with participation from existing investors including EJF Ventures, Idea Fund of La Crosse, and The Perch Fund.

The funding comes as banks continue to invest heavily in digital account opening, making it easier for businesses to open new accounts. However, according to Onsetto, opening an account is not the same as winning the relationship. Many newly acquired business accounts never become the customer’s primary operating account, as payroll, receivables, and payables often remain with the incumbent bank. This leaves new accounts underutilized or secondary.

Onsetto addresses this through a model it calls “structured activation,” a guided process for moving a business’s financial operations into a new institution during onboarding. By identifying dependencies across a business’s systems and generating a transition plan, the platform enables banks to guide customers through the switching process with greater clarity and speed. The company leverages AI-driven workflow automation to coordinate tasks that previously required significant manual effort, reducing timelines and increasing the likelihood that a new account becomes primary.

“Business banking growth is not determined by accounts opened. It is determined by how quickly operating activity moves,” said Cale Johnston, Founder and CEO of Onsetto. “Onsetto removes the friction from switching, giving banks a clear and structured way to help businesses transition and begin operating from their new account with confidence.”

Neil Underwood, Co-Founder and General Partner at Canapi Ventures, noted the difficulty banks face in capturing the primary operating relationship. “Banks have built strong systems to acquire accounts, but they have not built the infrastructure required to activate them. Onsetto addresses this gap directly,” he said.

Johnston previously founded ClickSWITCH, a consumer account switching platform acquired by Q2 Holdings. With Onsetto, he is applying that experience to the more complex challenge of commercial banking relationships. The new funding will be used to expand platform capabilities, grow the team, and accelerate adoption among financial institutions nationwide.

Onsetto’s platform does not require core or digital banking integration, aiming for fast implementation. More information is available at www.onsetto.com.
