Northgate González Market Launches ‘Familia Fútbol’ Campaign for 2026 World Cup

Northgate González Market, Southern California’s premier Mexican-themed Hispanic supermarket, officially launched Familia Fútbol, a sweeping World Cup 2026 campaign celebrating the culture, food, and passion for fútbol that unite Latino families across generations. The launch event took place March 18 at the historic Yost Theater in Santa Ana, Calif., marking the ceremonial kickoff of a community-wide celebration that will carry through the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

The campaign honors both biological and chosen families, gathering people to cheer, celebrate, and share a meal. With Mexico opening the 2026 World Cup at Estadio Azteca, Northgate González Market positions itself as the cultural headquarters for World Cup celebrations in Southern California. “Soccer is not just a sport for our families, it is memories, identity, and pride,” said Oscar González, Co-President of Northgate González Market. “Familia Fútbol is our way of celebrating this historic World Cup moment through the food, culture, and values that define who we are and who we serve.”

At the heart of Familia Fútbol is a roster of Mexican cultural legends and sports icons: boxing champion Julio César Chávez, legendary goalkeeper Jorge Campos, luchador El Hijo del Santo, actress Angélica María, and women’s national team star Scarlett Camberos, along with the iconic Pedro Infante. Additional soccer legends include Paco Palencia, Claudio Suárez, Ramón Morales, Braulio Luna, Francisco “Maza” Rodríguez, and Carlos Hermosillo. The launch event was hosted by former Mexican player Mariano Trujillo and sports journalist Livette Ruvalcaba, featuring curated memorabilia, live entertainment, and interactive moments with the talent lineup.

Northgate González Market will also bring game-day flavors to life, offering families everything needed to celebrate at home, from freshly marinated carne asada and handmade guacamole to aguas frescas and party trays. Throughout the tournament, stores will highlight game-day favorites. The campaign includes meet-and-greet events with Julio César Chávez, El Hijo del Santo, and Angélica María; eight Familia Fútbol Fan Fests transforming parking lots into community stadiums (April–June); youth soccer clinics with Mexican legends; a Mother’s Day World Cup Makeover Sweepstakes (April 15–May 10); and Father’s Day Carne Asada Event and World Cup Final Viewing Parties in June.
