Noble Mineral Exploration Inc. (TSX-V:NOB, FRANKFURT: NB7, OTCQB:NLPXF) is preparing to launch a diamond drill program of approximately 2,500 to 3,000 meters on its Lucas Gold Project, located about 30 kilometers north of Timmins, Ontario. The company announced the update on October 7, 2026, via NEWMEDIAWIRE. The program is significant not only for its size but for the strategic location of the project, which sits in a region that has produced over 75 million ounces of gold and hosts the world-class Kidd Creek Mine, now in its 58th year of continuous production with more than 150 million tonnes of ore mined. The Lucas project is also about 20 kilometers east of Canada Nickel's Crawford Nickel Resource, underscoring the area's mineral richness.
A key factor enabling the program is a $215,000 Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) grant awarded by the Ontario Government. This financial support reduces Noble's cost burden and signals government confidence in the project's potential. However, the company noted that a recent site visit determined the drill program will require the establishment of a winter road for access, as the road needs time to develop a stable, deep frozen base for heavy equipment. This logistical step adds time and cost but is necessary for efficient operations in the remote setting.
The Lucas Gold Project is drill-ready, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) already signed with local First Nations. The project boasts full industry services, supplies, and infrastructure in Timmins, accessible via paved Highway 655, along with ample access to power and water. Such infrastructure is critical for advancing exploration quickly and economically. The mineralized trend extends over 1,700 meters, but only about 650 meters of strike length has been tested by drilling. In 2018, Noble completed 15 NQ diamond drill holes totaling 3,184 meters, covering that 650-meter strike length. The company also located 37 historical drill-hole collars and twinned three of them. No further work has been done since 2018, leaving the project ripe for renewed exploration. A map of the general location and local infrastructure is available Click here to see Figure 1: General Location Map with Local Infrastructure.
The upcoming program will focus on IP Anomaly A to further define gold mineralization, but it will also test five other undrilled IP anomalies for similar gold potential. Gold mineralization at Lucas is interpreted as structurally controlled, occurring as discrete lenses stacked within a pyrite-plus-gold mineralized tuffaceous unit. The 2018 drill plan and mineralized zone outline are shown in Click here to see Figure 3: 2018 Drilling Plan with Outline of Mineralized Zone Projected to Surface, while the IP zones and 2018 drill collars are depicted in Click here to see Figure 4: Plan of Induced Polarization Zones Projected to Surface with Collars of 2018 Drilling and Magnetic Background. The company's development plan is divided into three phases: Phase 1 aims to establish gold grade and extend the mineralized strike length to approximately 1,700 meters; Phase 2 will verify gold mineralization in additional parallel IP anomalies; and Phase 3 involves geological modeling and NI 43-101 resource definition.
For investors and the broader mining sector, this announcement matters because it marks the revival of a strategically located gold project in a Tier-1 jurisdiction. The OJEP grant and First Nation MoU reduce political and social risk, while the presence of six discrete IP anomalies—only one of which has been drilled—highlights substantial untapped exploration upside. Success in extending the known mineralization or discovering new lenses could significantly enhance the project's resource potential and attract further investment.
