Author, coach, and ministry leader Phil Jones, Jr. has announced the release of his new book, Captain: 72 Days to Unlock Your Inner Superhero, published by Lucid Books. The book offers a structured 72-day roadmap designed to help readers develop self-leadership, strengthen daily habits, and live with purposeful intention.
More than a motivational read, Captain presents a daily action plan where each day offers a choice: Seize or Relinquish. Through consistent action and reflection, Jones guides readers on a transformational journey toward becoming the captain of their own lives. 'Captain is a plan,' said Jones. 'If someone follows it for 72 days, I truly believe they cannot help but get results.'
The book challenges readers to take ownership of their decisions, sharpen their vision, build resilience, and embrace courage to create lasting change. By the end of the journey, readers will have developed practical tools to lead themselves more effectively in all areas of life. 'Today is the best day of your life,' Jones said. 'Change is possible, one day at a time.'
Jones' passion for helping others discover purpose stems from his background in financial planning and pastoral ministry. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Divinity from Liberty University. His decades of leadership experience bring a grounded perspective to personal growth, resilience, and legacy.
Becoming a published author fulfills a long-held dream for Jones. 'I have dreamed of writing a book for years and felt like this is what I was supposed to do,' he shared. His love for writing began in fourth grade when his class published a poetry book. 'That was the first time I realized I loved writing,' he said.
Like many aspiring authors, Jones faced challenges, particularly 'taking the step to put myself out there.' Drawing inspiration from legendary author Og Mandino, he adopted a disciplined writing routine. One strategy he credits for overcoming writer's block is a practice he calls 'Bach O'Clock.' 'I go into my office at the same time every day and turn on Bach,' he said. 'The routine helps me focus and create.'
Jones describes his writing journey in three words: Relentless, Disciplined, Transformational. Those same qualities are woven throughout Captain, making it an ideal resource for individuals seeking personal growth and lasting change. When asked what advice he would offer aspiring authors, Jones' answer was simple: 'Decide, and do it.'
Outside of writing and coaching, Jones enjoys working out, reading, sports, traveling, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Sarah, have been married since 2011 and are raising four children alongside their two French bulldogs. The family resides in Willis, Texas.
Through Captain: 72 Days to Unlock Your Inner Superhero, Jones hopes to inspire readers to stop waiting for change and start leading themselves toward it, one intentional day at a time. For more information on the publisher, visit Lucid Books.
