NeuroOne Medical Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: NMTC) announced the release of a white paper titled “StereoCED™ - A Scalable Platform for CNS Drug Delivery,” which outlines how its investigational drug delivery platform is designed to address key barriers to the commercial scalability of brain therapeutics. The document highlights the growing demand for efficient and reproducible methods of delivering cell and gene therapies, biologics, and other central nervous system (CNS) therapeutics directly to the brain. While convection-enhanced delivery (CED) has shown promise in bypassing the blood-brain barrier, current approaches may present challenges as therapies move toward broader commercial use. The StereoCED platform is being developed to leverage robotic stereotactic systems already established in neurosurgical operating rooms, supporting simultaneous, multi-trajectory intracranial drug delivery through a streamlined workflow. This approach has the potential to significantly reduce procedure time compared to traditional sequential infusions, which can last 8 to 12 hours, and enable reproducible, scalable therapeutic delivery.

The StereoCED platform is currently under development and has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for commercialization. NeuroOne, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, markets a minimally invasive electrode technology platform with four FDA-cleared product families: Evo Cortical Electrodes, Evo sEEG Electrodes, OneRF Ablation System (for brain), and OneRF Trigeminal Nerve Ablation System. The company is also engaged in research and development for drug delivery, basivertebral nerve ablation, and spinal cord stimulation programs.
The white paper underscores the potential of the StereoCED platform to address the scalability challenges that could hinder the adoption of brain-delivered therapeutics. By integrating with existing robotic systems, the platform aims to provide a standardized approach that can be implemented across hospitals, potentially reducing procedure time and improving consistency. This development comes as the field of CNS therapeutics advances, with more therapies requiring direct intracranial delivery.
