Owner Kelli Hull, a native Texan and Texas A&M graduate, returned to the state after nearly two decades in Washington, D.C., where she worked in government contracting. She identified the need for a local boutique carrying contemporary designers and decided to act.
Monkee's is a North Carolina-based franchise of locally owned boutiques known for offering major designer brands in small, neighborhood storefronts. Hull discovered the concept eight years ago in Raleigh, North Carolina, and was impressed by the boutique's ability to carry well-known brands. The franchise's collective buying power enables individual store owners to access major showrooms and purchase for the season ahead. Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch is the eighth location in Texas and approximately the 67th nationwide, positioning Hull as an early adopter in a growing brand. The store spans just over 1,200 square feet, reflecting the franchise's signature small footprint and curated approach.
The boutique carries contemporary designers across a range of price points, allowing customers to shop from day to night without leaving the Hill Country. Hull emphasizes a personal shopping experience, aiming to help every customer leave feeling confident. She stated, 'A lot of women just need someone to say, 'You're beautiful, that looks good on you - but I think we can do even better.'' As a veteran-owned business in the San Antonio area, Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch also plans to support the military community, with details to be announced later.
