Matt Hardin Law has announced that Andrew Lockert has joined the firm as a new partner. Lockert, a seasoned litigator with nearly a decade of experience, brings a strong track record in personal injury, federal civil rights, and criminal law. He comes from a distinguished legal tradition in Cheatham County, Tennessee, with family members who have served as judges and attorneys, instilling in him a deep respect for the legal system.
Lockert is known for his tenacity in federal courts and commitment to holding institutions accountable. He played a key role in Campbell v. Cheatham County, a civil rights case involving Fourth Amendment protections against excessive police force. He successfully navigated the Middle District of Tennessee and the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals to ensure the claim against the primary officer could proceed to trial. He also gained regional recognition for his work alongside the late John Morris in the 'Reid Van Ness' litigation, which challenged regulatory boundaries in the funeral industry and sought to protect families from mishandling of remains.
Despite often opposing local municipalities and law enforcement, Lockert has maintained a reputation for professional excellence and mutual respect. He prides himself on building productive, collaborative relationships with police units and agencies in Cheatham County and throughout Middle Tennessee, while aggressively advocating for clients' civil rights.
In addition to strengthening the firm's personal injury practice, Lockert will lead a new criminal defense practice area at Matt Hardin Law. His goal is to provide a voice for those who feel unheard by the system, ensuring clients receive counsel that understands both the local landscape and federal courts. Outside of work, Lockert is an avid traveler and basketball player, remaining deeply committed to the Middle Tennessee community.
Matt Hardin Law is a premier personal injury firm serving clients across Tennessee. Known for its locally grown approach, the firm handles cases involving car accidents, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and now federal civil rights and criminal defense. With Lockert's addition, the firm continues its mission of providing elite legal representation with a personal, community-focused touch.
