LION Smart Production GmbH, part of LION E-Mobility Group, is accelerating its stationary battery energy storage systems (BESS) business with two strategic hires, emphasizing the segment's role as a key growth pillar. Winfried Wahl will serve as Head of BESS Strategy, while Sebastian Bujnoch joins as Manager Business and Sales Development, focusing on international supplier relationships and customer development across Europe.

Winfried Wahl brings over 18 years of experience in photovoltaic systems and stationary energy storage markets. A graduate electrical engineer from RWTH Aachen University, he has expertise across the value chain, from technology positioning to market entry strategies and regulatory requirements. Previously, he shaped European market entries for Hithium and LONGi, contributed to BNEF Tier 1 listings, and worked on reinsurance eligibility through Munich Re. He also co-authored the IEA World Energy Outlook Special Report 2024 and serves on PV Magazine's jury. Since June 2026, Wahl has been responsible for strategic BESS development at LION Smart in Garching, focusing on competitive product models and partnerships.

Sebastian Bujnoch adds international leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, and the battery sector. With 16 years in China and Asian manufacturing markets, he offers deep insights into industrial scaling and supply chain structures. His role involves building and scaling the BESS business unit, strengthening relationships with Chinese suppliers, and broadening the European customer portfolio. His expertise combines European innovation with Asian production capabilities.
