Lexaria Extends Material Transfer Agreement with PharmaCO for GLP-1 Drug Delivery Technology

Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ: LEXX) announced an extension of its Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) with an undisclosed pharmaceutical company, referred to as PharmaCO, originally signed on August 30, 2024. The MTA has been extended through December 31, 2026, to allow PharmaCO time to receive and review Lexaria's 2026 research and development results related to GLP-1 drugs. This extension maintains the temporary exclusive license and enables further strategic discussions with PharmaCO's clinical and business development teams.

The MTA, which facilitates pre-clinical evaluation of Lexaria's DehydraTECH™ drug delivery platform, is critical for advancing oral delivery of GLP-1 receptor agonists, a class of drugs used for diabetes and obesity. Lexaria has been conducting multiple studies in this area, including Human Study #7, Animal Study #1, and Animal Study #2, all fully funded and underway. Results are anticipated in the third and fourth quarters of 2026.

DehydraTECH is Lexaria's patented technology designed to improve oral drug absorption, reduce side effects, and enhance blood-brain barrier penetration. The company holds 65 granted patents and operates a licensed research laboratory. This collaboration could lead to licensing agreements if the technology demonstrates superior bioavailability or reduced side effects compared to current GLP-1 therapies.

The extension underscores the potential value of Lexaria's platform in addressing challenges with oral peptide delivery, such as low bioavailability and gastrointestinal tolerability. Positive results from the ongoing studies could attract further partnerships or investment, positioning Lexaria as a key player in the growing GLP-1 market.
