Lahontan Gold Corp. (TSXV: LG) (OTCQB: LGCXF) is advancing toward production at its flagship Santa Fe gold project in Nevada, with CEO Kimberly Ann stating in a new BTV – Business Television video that the company expects to receive a key mine permit in the first quarter of 2025. This milestone would enable construction to begin, positioning the project for potential initial gold production before the end of the year.
Ann emphasized Nevada's established infrastructure, skilled mining workforce, and favorable regulatory environment as significant advantages supporting the project's development. The company also highlighted the silver upside at its West Santa Fe asset, noting projected cash costs of approximately $1,100 to $1,200 per ounce, which Ann said position the project favorably amid strong precious metals prices.
The Santa Fe project, spanning 26.4 km², historically produced 359,202 ounces of gold and 702,067 ounces of silver between 1988 and 1995 via open-pit mining and heap-leach processing. According to a recent NI 43-101 technical report, the project hosts an Indicated Mineral Resource of 1,539,000 oz Au Eq (48,393,000 tonnes grading 0.92 g/t Au and 7.18 g/t Ag) and an Inferred Resource of 411,000 oz Au Eq (16,760,000 tonnes grading 0.74 g/t Au and 3.25 g/t Ag), both pit-constrained. The company plans to update the Santa Fe Preliminary Economic Assessment and drill test West Santa Fe in 2025.
