Lahontan Gold Corp. (TSX.V: LG) (OTCQB: LGCXF) has announced the addition of three new members to its management team as the company moves forward with its plans to restart production at the Santa Fe Mine by 2027. The appointments underscore the company's shift from a mine developer to a mine builder, with a focus on advancing permitting, mine planning, and construction activities.
Tony Gesualdo rejoins Lahontan as vice president of exploration, having previously served as exploration manager from 2020 to 2023. During his earlier tenure, he contributed to the initial Mineral Resource Estimate for the Santa Fe Mine. His return brings continuity and deep knowledge of the project's geology, which will be instrumental as the company continues to define and expand its resource base.
Michael Kubel joins as senior mine engineer, bringing over a decade of experience in Nevada open-pit gold mining and heap-leach operations, including work at the Florida Canyon and Hycroft mines. His operational expertise is expected to be critical in optimizing mine plans and ensuring efficient production methods as Santa Fe moves closer to restart.
Jen Earle will serve in investor relations and business development, leveraging her two decades of experience in natural resources, capital markets, and investor engagement across major exchanges including the LSE, ASX, and TSX. Her role will be pivotal in communicating the company's progress and attracting investment as it advances its development milestones.
Kimberly Ann, founder, executive chair, CEO, and president of Lahontan, highlighted that these additions strengthen the company's technical, operational, and business development capabilities. She noted that the team is now better equipped to handle the challenges of permitting, mine planning, and the eventual transition to construction and operations.
The Santa Fe Mine, located in the Walker Lane of Nevada, has a rich production history, having produced 359,202 ounces of gold and 702,067 ounces of silver between 1988 and 1995. The project hosts a NI 43-101 compliant Indicated Mineral Resource of 1,539,000 ounces of gold equivalent (Au Eq) and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 411,000 ounces Au Eq, as detailed in the company's recent technical report.
The company plans to update the Preliminary Economic Assessment and drill test its satellite West Santa Fe project during 2025. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to de-risk the project and solidify the path to production.
