KIT WAN STUDIOS, a multidisciplinary design and visual art studio led by Hong Kong-born creative director Kit Wan, will headline the CENTRESTAGE ELITES runway show on September 2 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) announced. The studio will present a forthcoming collection that fuses sci-fi inspirations with mechanical aesthetics, blurring the boundaries between collectable and wearable fashion.
Organized by the HKTDC and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, CENTRESTAGE runs from September 2 to 5 and is a core event of the third edition of “Hong Kong Fashion Fest.” The ELITES opening show will feature Kit Wan’s unique “abstract reality” approach, which spans costume design, multimedia installations, and permanent museum exhibits. The studio's work merges manga and mythology with bespoke metalwork, creating stage armor for global artists.
Kit Wan, who first studied knitwear design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, later moved to Amsterdam, London, and Oslo, where he completed an MA in fashion design. He is the first fashion designer to receive the Norwegian government’s “Young Artist Award,” and his creations are in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Norway. In 2025, Fashion Asia Hong Kong selected the studio as its sole Hong Kong representative among the “2025 10 Asian Designers to Watch.”
“It feels like ‘THE’ moment for my work to come from my clearest voice, from my clearest mind,” Wan said in a statement. “This collection is from my heart, my voice – so completely – and I am excited to share that with my hometown of Hong Kong.” The studio’s collaborative roster includes local superstars such as Aaron Kwok, Hins Cheung, and Miriam Yeung, as well as international acts like Alan Cumming and Teddy Swims.
The artist will also lead a sharing session during CENTRESTAGE, offering insights from his creative journey. The fair, now in its 11th edition, aims to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s fashion hub, featuring thematic zones, fashion parades, and industry seminars on sustainable fashion and AI in design. Further details will be announced at a press conference on August 20.
