InnoEX and Hong Kong Electronics Fair Attract Over 88,000 Buyers, Highlighting AI and Robotics as Key Drivers of Hong Kong's Innovation Hub Ambitions

InnoEX, jointly organized by the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau (ITIB) of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and the HKTDC’s Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) (EFSE), concluded today after a four-day run. The exhibitions attracted over 88,000 buyers from 155 countries and regions, facilitating connection building and business matching. Buyers from outside Hong Kong primarily came from the Chinese Mainland, Japan, India, the United States, and Korea.

Jenny Koo, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC, emphasized the role of these events in leveraging Hong Kong's unique position as a bridge between the Chinese Mainland and the world. "The HKTDC provides a crucial platform connecting global innovation and technology by assisting Chinese Mainland enterprises in expanding overseas and seizing global business opportunities, and also offering global enterprises a springboard to enter the Asian and Chinese Mainland markets," she said. The exhibitions align with China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Hong Kong's government Budget, focusing on AI-driven technologies. The newly launched RoboPark featured over 100 robots from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and overseas, including UBTECH, the world’s first humanoid robot company listed in Hong Kong, which reported results exceeding expectations and engaged with buyers from the Chinese Mainland, the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

InnoEX focused on five key areas: AI+, Robotics, the Low-altitude Economy, Property Technology, and Retail Technology. It brought together exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, including the UK Pavilion and Macao Pavilion, which saw strong buyer turnout. Exhibitors from the Macao Pavilion alone held over 280 business meetings in the first three days. Major participants included Huawei, China Mobile Hong Kong, HKT, and Lenovo. Huawei concurrently organized Huawei Hong Kong Tech Week 2026, featuring 12 themed events exploring AI+ applications. Chinese Mainland pavilions from 17 provinces and municipalities participated, with the Zhongguancun Beijing Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation Center attracting interest from Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and the Middle East on the first day.

The EFSE showcased smart living electronics, health tech, and pet intelligence, with around 60 products launched for the first time. Local company HelloBaby, specializing in baby monitors, attracted buyers from Japan, Korea, Singapore, and other Asian markets. Australian automotive electronics manufacturer Carmate Electronics Pty Ltd reported potential transactions of around US$200,000 on the first day, with expected follow-up orders reaching US$400,000 to US$500,000. Michael Lin, General Manager, noted that amid heightened China-US tensions, Hong Kong's role as an international platform creates valuable business opportunities. German buyer Pari Jazz from P.J Global Way Management Ltd arranged about 12 business meetings and identified two to three potential partners.

Over 260 speakers shared insights across more than 100 events. The session 'From +AI to AI+: Enhancing Workplace Performance' featured representatives from HKT Limited, Lenovo, and CLP. The 'Low-altitude Economy Development Conference' included distinguished guests such as Michael Wong, Deputy Financial Secretary of the HKSAR, and Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev, Vice Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan. The seminar 'Embodied AI in Robotics: The Dawn of Autonomy' explored AI-driven robotics transforming industries like education and services.

Surveys conducted during the fairs revealed that 81% of respondents are interested in expanding into emerging markets, and 78% have explored or adopted generative AI technologies. Among InnoEX respondents, 42% apply AI to sales and customer communications, 40% to data analysis, and 39% to product design. At EFSE, 59% expect sales revenue to increase, and 33% believe consumers will pay an 11% to 20% premium for smart home or AI-enabled products. The success of these exhibitions underscores Hong Kong's growing role as a global innovation and technology hub.
