The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), together with strategic partner the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels and supporting organisations, hosted the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion at VivaTech 2026 in Paris, France. The pavilion showcased innovative solutions from 24 local innovation and technology enterprises and institutions to global investors and industry players, facilitating cross-border collaborations and market expansion.
Among the participants, Formwork IO, which specialises in carbon-negative construction materials, was selected as a top 30 finalist for VivaTech's "Tech for Change" Award. Additionally, PointFit Technology and Robocore Technology Limited were chosen to present live demonstrations at VivaTech's Discovery Stage, highlighting Hong Kong's strengths in health technology and robotics.
The pavilion yielded tangible results: Robocare Technology is in negotiations with JCDecaux for a cooperation agreement to provide 1,000 robots for marketing campaigns. This connection was first established at last year's pavilion. LeafIoT Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Politecnico di Milano to collaborate on smart tree monitoring solutions, aiming to accelerate European market entry.
Chris Lo, HKTDC's Regional Director for Europe, Central Asia & Israel, stated: "VivaTech 2026's Hong Kong Tech Pavilion has achieved excellent results once again this year, facilitating multiple cross-border collaborations." He emphasised that the HKTDC continues to help local start-ups build networks and increase international exposure.
During the event, a thematic seminar titled "Building Resilient Tech Ecosystems" was held on 19 June, featuring Shirley Yung, Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic & Trade Affairs to the European Union. Yung highlighted Hong Kong's advantages: top-tier research and talent, deep capital pools, access to the Greater Bay Area, and global connectivity. Terry Wong from HKSTPC and Yonghai Du from HKPC also shared insights on leveraging Hong Kong as a springboard for international markets.
The HKTDC has been actively organising participation in major international tech exhibitions, following CES 2026 in Las Vegas, MWC and 4YFN in Barcelona. The 10th VivaTech attracted over 165 countries, 15,000 start-ups, and 200,000 visitors. The Hong Kong Tech Pavilion is a flagship initiative under the "Economic and Trade Express" in Europe, with additional pitching sessions and networking events to support start-ups.
