The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from July 15 to 21, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, the three fairs are expected to gather more than 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive cultural and leisure experience.
This year's theme, 'Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys,' aims to inspire readers to explore cultural heritage through reading and travel. Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated that the theme encourages the public to immerse themselves in cultural and eco-tourism, broadening horizons and stimulating minds. Over 600 cultural events will be held at the fairground and across the city.
A highlight is the 'World of Art & Culture' zone, featuring the 'World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart' exhibition, which connects Hong Kong stories with world literature through six interactive setups. The exhibition, supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, showcases over 200 books and items from around the world, making travel literature accessible and engaging.
The Book Fair includes eight seminar series, bringing together renowned writers such as Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, and Liu Jiakun. The English and International Books Seminar Series features British poet Luke Kennard and McKinsey & Company's Joe Ngai. For the first time, the ASEAN Literary Festival will be introduced, fostering cultural exchange with authors like Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan.
Other notable speakers include aerospace experts who will discuss Hong Kong's recent space mission milestones, as well as Ronnie Chan and Jasper Tsang. The Cultural and Creative Space returns, featuring the Fujian Pavilion, Hangzhou Pavilion, and Hong Kong exhibitor Tsi Ku Chai, showcasing intangible cultural heritage crafts and creative products. Chinese Mainland Publishers will present about 20,000 publications, with Yunnan as the featured province.
The Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo will offer sports experiences, including the 'Fit & Fearless Challenge' by the Hong Kong Playground Association and pickleball apparel by Cyber Smart Limited. The World of Snacks will feature over 1,300 snacks from nearly 30 countries, including innovative products like freeze-dried candies and high-protein crisps.
A single ticket provides access to all three events, with adult tickets priced at HK$30. Special promotions include Morning Admission Tickets at HK$10 and a '60 Book Fair Super Passes' giveaway in celebration of HKTDC's 60th anniversary. The fairs aim to promote reading, healthy lifestyles, and cultural exchange, making them a key summer destination for both locals and tourists.
