FWD Group Holdings Limited (FWD Group) marked its 13th anniversary by announcing a series of charitable grants dedicated to supporting more than 13,000 people in communities across Asia. The initiative reflects the company's ongoing commitment to giving back to the regions where it operates, extending beyond its core insurance business to foster social impact.
Established in 2013 with a mission to transform the life insurance industry, FWD Group has grown from its early operations in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Thailand into a pan-Asian life and health insurer serving millions of customers across 10 markets. In July last year, the company reached a significant milestone with its listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the stock code 1828.
Huynh Thanh Phong, Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of FWD Group, emphasized the importance of community support: “At FWD Group, changing the way people feel about insurance is about much more than looking after our customers – it’s also about supporting the communities where we operate. These 13 grants are a meaningful way to give back to the people and places that have been part of our journey. Together with trusted community partners, we hope to make a real difference in people’s lives, while also bringing our caring value to life through employee volunteering.”
The 13 grants will support a wide range of initiatives across the region, spanning financial literacy, career readiness, entrepreneurship, health and wellbeing, and community recovery. In Hong Kong SAR, the grants will extend the JA SparktheDream Wellness Programme with Junior Achievement Hong Kong, benefiting 2,600 primary school students through interactive workshops and family activities that build social, emotional, and financial skills. Additionally, support for children and caregivers affected by the Tai Po fire includes a football-based programme with Save the Children Hong Kong, strengthening wellbeing and resilience for 200 children and 80 caregivers. Plan International Hong Kong will lead psychosocial support and community-building initiatives for over 6,500 students, parents, and teachers to aid long-term recovery in Tai Po.
In Cambodia, JCI Mekong will equip 200 young people with practical money management skills through financial education workshops and digital learning content. Indonesia's KUMPUL will partner on the InnovateHer Academy 4.0, empowering 10 female entrepreneurs with mentorship and business readiness skills. Japan's Hands On Tokyo will promote inclusion through football clinics for over 15 visually impaired individuals. In Malaysia, GivingHub will support 170 low-income families with health education and financial literacy workshops, as well as 100 cancer screening sessions. The Philippines' Junior Achievement will help 100 university students transition into the workforce with financial literacy and career readiness training. Singapore's Club Rainbow will organize a carnival for 50 children with chronic illnesses and their caregivers, fostering community spirit. Thailand's Pimali Foundation will extend hospitality training scholarships for seven disadvantaged youth, and Junior Achievement Thailand will train 30 educators to deliver financial literacy education. Vietnam's Startup Vietnam Foundation and Dear Our Community will empower 800 students through workshops and debate competitions, while Little Roses Foundation will provide 76 computers to schools in Khanh Hoa Province, enabling 1,800 students to continue learning after severe flooding.
These initiatives underscore FWD Group's dedication to creating positive social impact across Asia, aligning with its customer-led and tech-enabled approach to insurance. As the company continues to grow, it remains focused on supporting the communities that have been integral to its success.
