Julia Pieri, a student at Florida State University, has been named the recipient of the Community Impact Through Animal Service Scholarship, presented by Blakeley Car Accident & Personal Injury Lawyers. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to helping animals in their communities. Pieri's story, centered on her care for a rescue dog named Zeke, stood out to the selection committee.
Pieri took over fostering Zeke when her friend, the original foster parent, fell ill. She provided the stability and routine that Zeke needed during a transitional period. "Helping care for Zeke also showed me how important foster networks are for rescue animals," Pieri said. "Foster dogs rely on stability, routine, and kindness while they transition from uncertain pasts to hopeful futures. By stepping in while my friend was sick, I was able to help maintain that stability for him."
Beyond her volunteer work with animals, Pieri is pursuing dual degrees in Accounting and Economics with a minor in Commercial Entrepreneurship at Florida State University. She is also active in pageants and advocates for breast cancer research, in addition to volunteering with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Her professional trajectory includes a receivable internship at SBA Communications in summer 2026 and a planned tax internship at CohnReznick in 2027. After graduation, she intends to pursue a master's degree and sit for the CPA exam, aiming to specialize in tax and public accounting.
