Frontieras North America Signs LOI with Cora Terminal for Multi-Phase FASForm Deployment in Illinois

Frontieras North America, an energy and environmental technology company commercializing the patented FASForm(TM) Solid Carbon Fractionation process, has announced a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Cora Terminal, LLC, a joint venture between Watco Companies, LLC and SCH Services, LLC. This agreement outlines a phased development of FASForm production capacity at the Cora Terminal in Rockwood, Illinois. The initial phase would involve leasing approximately 85 acres for a plant designed to process 7,500 tons of coal feedstock per day, with a potential expansion to about 130 acres for a second plant. At full buildout, the site would receive around 5.5 million net tons of coal feedstock annually and produce a suite of products including FASCarbon(TM), ultra-low-sulfur diesel, jet fuel, ammonium sulfate fertilizer, sulfuric acid, and naphtha.

This project represents Frontieras' third announced commercial site, following its $850 million first commercial facility currently under construction in Mason County, West Virginia. The Cora Terminal location offers strategic advantages: it can accommodate up to four unit trains simultaneously, has the capability to move more than 11 million tons of coal annually, and owns more than 300 acres of developable land surrounding the terminal. Under the LOI, the parties will pursue site due diligence, engineering, permitting, infrastructure assessment, and definitive lease and transportation agreements. It is important to note that the LOI is an expression of mutual intent and not a binding commitment, with any definitive agreements subject to due diligence, permitting, financing, and required approvals.

The significance of this announcement lies in Frontieras' mission to redefine coal utilization globally. The FASForm technology converts coal and other hydrocarbons into clean fuels, fertilizers, and industrial chemicals through a zero-waste process. This approach addresses environmental concerns associated with traditional coal use while providing valuable products. The Cora Terminal project, if realized, would be a large-scale demonstration of this technology's commercial viability, potentially influencing the energy sector's transition toward cleaner solutions.

Moreover, this LOI highlights the growing interest in leveraging existing fossil fuel infrastructure for advanced conversion technologies. By situating at a major coal terminal, Frontieras could benefit from established logistics and supply chains, reducing project risks and costs. The partnership with Watco and SCH Services, both experienced in industrial operations, further underscores the project's credibility. For the local economy, the project could bring jobs and economic development to the Rockwood area, aligning with broader national efforts to revitalize coal communities through innovative technologies.

Investors and industry observers will be watching closely as the due diligence process unfolds. The successful execution of this project could position Frontieras as a leader in the clean coal technology space, offering a template for similar initiatives elsewhere. The company's recent completion of its Regulation A+ public offering provides additional financial flexibility to advance its pipeline. As Frontieras continues to expand its commercial footprint, the Cora Terminal project serves as a testament to the potential of solid carbon fractionation in the evolving energy landscape.
