Frontieras Advances West Virginia FASForm Facility Amid Surging Power Demand

As electricity demand surges across the mid-Atlantic, Frontieras North America is advancing construction of its first commercial-scale FASForm facility in Mason County, West Virginia. The company's announcement comes as the latest PJM capacity auction, which coordinates the power market across 13 states and Washington, D.C., saw prices reach the federally approved cap of $325 per MW-day. Capacity fell 6,831 MW short of PJM's reliability requirement, signaling a tight market. PJM's independent market monitor attributed $6.3 billion of the auction's $16.4 billion cost to data center demand, underscoring the strain from rapid digital infrastructure growth.

Frontieras' FASForm process is designed to fractionate American coal into products including hydrogen, diesel, jet fuel, naphtha, and fertilizer, without burning the coal itself. This approach aims to provide a versatile energy solution that can help meet rising electricity needs while producing valuable byproducts. The company's planned $850 million Mason County facility is under construction and backed by a $150 million institutional commitment from GEM. According to the company, the facility will be a key step in commercializing the technology.

The company also highlighted its ongoing Reg A+ offering, which has already attracted significant investor interest. The inaugural offering reached its $25.7 million ceiling and drew more than 10,000 shareholders. Frontieras has reserved the Nasdaq ticker “FASF” for its planned public listing. The reopened Reg A+ investment opportunity is scheduled to close Aug. 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Investors interested in learning more about the offering can visit https://ibn.fm/sKBwNAbout.

The PJM capacity auction results are a critical indicator of the region's power market health. The shortfall and high prices reflect a growing imbalance between supply and demand, driven in part by the proliferation of data centers. These facilities require massive amounts of electricity, and their rapid expansion is outpacing the construction of new power generation. Frontieras' FASForm technology could play a role in addressing this challenge by providing a domestic source of hydrogen and other fuels that can be used for power generation, potentially reducing reliance on imported energy and helping to stabilize the grid.

Frontieras North America is an energy and environmental technology company commercializing FASForm, a patented Solid Carbon Fractionation process that transforms coal and other hydrocarbons into clean-burning fuels, hydrogen, industrial carbon, and agricultural products. The company is focused on delivering abundant, affordable, and available energy through profitable, market-driven innovation. For more information, visit www.frontieras.com.
