ExoFusion, a fusion energy innovator based in Bellevue, WA, and Austin, TX, has announced the launch of Stellarator Acceleration Services, a new initiative aimed at accelerating the path to Commercially Viable Fusion (CVF). The announcement was made on February 12, 2026, highlighting the growing momentum in the fusion energy sector.

Stellarators are among the most promising fusion devices—alongside tokamaks and other concepts—that can create and sustain fusion conditions necessary for practical reactors. According to ExoFusion, stellarator companies have raised over $1 billion in recent years, reflecting strong investor and scientific confidence in their potential. The new service aims to leverage ExoFusion's expertise in design, simulation, intellectual property, and scientific innovation to help stellarator developers overcome key technical hurdles.

“Our Stellarator Acceleration Services are designed to reduce the time and cost for stellarator companies to achieve commercially viable fusion,” said Romi Mahajan, CEO of ExoFusion. “By providing targeted support in confinement physics, novel materials, and other critical areas, we can help the industry move faster toward a clean energy future.”

ExoFusion is a recipient of several U.S. Department of Energy grants, including ARPA-E, SciDAC, FIRE, and INFUSE, underscoring its role as a leader in fusion research. The company works across multiple device types and fuel cycles, offering a broad perspective on fusion development.

The announcement also highlights ExoFusion's collaboration with Type One Energy, a stellarator-focused fusion company based in Austin, Texas. Type One Energy, established in 2019 and venture-backed in 2023, is developing an optimized stellarator fusion energy system using advanced manufacturing, computational physics, and high-field superconducting magnets. According to Thomas Frey, VP Marketing at Type One Energy, “ExoFusion’s acceleration services complement our FusionDirect™ development program, which pursues a low-risk, capital-efficient path to a fusion power plant over the next decade.”
