Spotting a public service announcement about the dangers of alcohol, he asked, "Oh wow! If you do drugs, can you get into an accident like the one in the video?" After learning that additional educational videos were available online, he eagerly asked for the website address, stating, "I'm going to watch all the videos." This interaction underscored the event's success in inspiring youth to take proactive steps toward a drug-free life.
The event also marked significant collaborative milestones for ongoing drug awareness initiatives. The Pasadena Library formally accepted a supply of educational booklets to be made publicly available, and the Elks Club Drug Awareness Program acquired 400 booklets for distribution through their community outreach.
The Foundation for a Drug-Free World, which sponsors the Drug Free World exhibit, is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs. Thanks to the support of sponsors such as the Church of Scientology, the foundation provides the secular Truth About Drugs program and materials free of charge. Through a worldwide network of volunteers, the foundation has distributed 100 million drug prevention booklets, held tens of thousands of drug awareness events in some 180 countries, and aired Truth About Drugs public service announcements on more than 500 television stations.
