FROSTBURG, MD – Clym Environmental Services, LLC celebrated the opening of its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event drew over 100 attendees, including elected officials, industry leaders, and community partners, who gathered to mark the facility's official launch and tour its operations.
The facility will utilize Clym's proprietary ozone treatment technology to process biohazardous material, converting it into safe, reusable materials. The technology generates ozone from ambient air and is powered by solar energy, a method designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment. This approach underscores Clym's commitment to sustainability and innovation in waste management.
During the ceremony, speakers highlighted the facility's economic and environmental significance. Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, noted that Clym will create living-wage jobs and that its proximity to Frostburg State University makes it a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park. Charles Watts, President of Clym, expressed gratitude to community partners and emphasized the company's growth in the eastern United States.
The event also featured remarks from Maryland Secretary of Commerce Harry Coker, Allegany County Commissioner Bill Atkinson, and Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council. A certificate of congressional recognition was presented on behalf of Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, acknowledging Clym's pioneering work in environmentally friendly waste management biotechnology.
The ribbon-cutting follows Clym's recognition as the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year winner at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. This new facility is poised to support the company's expansion and reinforce its role in sustainable waste management for the life sciences, healthcare, and pharmaceutical industries.
Located in the Frostburg Business Park, the facility will also benefit from a solar installation by Energy Select, which was showcased during the event. The solar system will power operations, further reducing the facility's environmental footprint.
