On July 12, 2026, Club Honduras International held its first event outside of Honduras at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International in Hollywood, California. The event was dedicated to celebrating Honduran Indigenous women, who are descendants of the Mayans and other native Indian peoples. The celebration featured traditional music and dance performances, a theatrical presentation highlighting the lives, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous Honduran women, and an awards ceremony recognizing Indigenous women and individuals whose work has contributed to preserving and promoting Honduras' Indigenous cultures.
The event also displayed traditional work tools and the country's trade items, including cacao beans and coffee beans. During the program, the Consulate of Honduras in Los Angeles received a Commendation in recognition of its support for the Honduran community and its efforts to foster cultural awareness and engagement. Additionally, an award recognized humanitarian and author L. Ron Hubbard for his book The Way to Happiness, a nonreligious guide promoting values such as respect, honesty, and compassion, which organizers said has been shared in Hispanic communities around the world.
Organizers intend the celebration to become an annual tradition, providing an opportunity to honor the contributions of Honduran Indigenous women and increase appreciation for the country's rich cultural heritage and traditions. According to a press release, the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International remains dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and promoting global harmony through meaningful events like these. The Scientology religion was founded by author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard, and the first Church of Scientology was formed in Los Angeles in 1954, expanding to more than 11,000 Churches, Missions, and affiliated groups with millions of members in 167 countries.
This event highlights the importance of cultural preservation and community recognition. By honoring Indigenous women and promoting their traditions, Club Honduras International aims to strengthen the cultural identity of Hondurans abroad and foster greater understanding among diverse communities. The involvement of the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International as a host underscores a commitment to cultural exchange. For more information, visit https://www.scientology.cc.
