Brazil Potash CEO to Speak at IDB Annual Meeting on Global Food Security, Highlighting Autazes Project's Strategic Importance

Brazil Potash Corp. (NYSE-American: GRO) announced that CEO Matt Simpson has been invited to speak on a Global Food Security Panel at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Annual Meeting of Governors in Asunción, Paraguay. The event is a major international development finance gathering, drawing representatives from member nations, multilateral institutions, and global investors. This invitation underscores the growing recognition of the company's Autazes Project as a potential contributor to Brazil's fertilizer independence, a critical issue given that the country imports over 95% of its potash despite being a leading agricultural exporter.

The Autazes Project, located in the Amazon region, aims to develop one of the world's largest undeveloped potash basins. Brazil Potash plans to produce up to 2.4 million tons of potash annually, which could supply approximately 20% of Brazil's current potash demand. The potash would be transported primarily via low-cost river barges in partnership with Amaggi, one of Brazil's largest farmers and logistical operators. Management anticipates that 100% of the production will be sold domestically, reducing Brazil's reliance on imports and mitigating approximately 1.4 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.

Brazil's vulnerability in potash supply is a pressing concern for global food security. The country has abundant fresh water, arable land, and an ideal climate for year-round crop growth, making it critical for feeding the world. However, its heavy dependence on imported potash—a key fertilizer nutrient—exposes it to supply disruptions and price volatility. The Autazes Project could significantly enhance Brazil's self-sufficiency, stabilizing fertilizer supply for its agricultural sector.

Simpson's participation at the IDB meeting highlights the project's potential to attract international investment and support. The panel will likely discuss strategies to strengthen food security through sustainable fertilizer production, with Brazil Potash serving as a case study. The company's focus on low-emission production and domestic distribution aligns with global sustainability goals.
