The Martial Arts History Museum will induct martial arts pioneer and global fitness innovator Billy Blanks into its Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 4 p.m. The ceremony recognizes Blanks’ creation of Tae Bo, a program that merged traditional martial arts techniques with high-energy aerobic exercise, reshaping both martial arts and the global fitness industry.
The Hall of Fame is the museum’s highest honor, reserved for individuals who have significantly influenced and elevated martial arts history. According to the museum, inductees are chosen for their profound impact, innovation, and ability to change the direction of martial arts. Blanks’ Tae Bo introduced millions to martial arts disciplines and philosophy, making them accessible to people of all backgrounds and inspiring a worldwide movement focused on health and personal growth.
During the induction ceremony, the museum will unveil Blanks’ original Tae Bo shorts, which will be placed on permanent display as a symbol of the cultural impact of Tae Bo. His name will also be added to the museum’s Hall of Fame wall.
“Billy Blanks didn’t just create a workout - he created a global phenomenon that redefined how people experience martial arts,” said Museum president Michael Matsuda. “His vision bridged the gap between tradition and modern fitness, opening doors for millions to engage with the arts in a meaningful and life-changing way.”
The event is open to the public, with admission set at $20 for adults and $5 for children. A table for purchasing Billy Blanks items will also be available. For more information, visit the Martial Arts History Museum.
