Bestselling Author and Filmmaker Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein Announces New Film 'I Had An Affair With My Husband' and Free Ebook Giveaway

Bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein has announced a special free screening of her new film, I Had An Affair With My Husband, on Wednesday, July 1 at 6 pm at Basie Center Cinemas Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. The film, set for release in late June 2026, delves into the humorous and unique dynamics of a married couple when the wife falls in love with a new voice her husband develops, leading to improved intimacy but also jealousy from the husband toward his own voice.

The narrative follows the couple as they navigate these unusual feelings, eventually seeking therapy to address the disconnect between the husband's persona and this new identity. Ultimately, they reach an honest understanding, recognizing that while the voice is a fantasy they can occasionally enjoy—and perhaps expand upon with other personas—their real love remains foundational. Dr. Holstein stated, 'Both myself and my husband, Dr. Russell Holstein are very excited about the film. The film developed in our minds as we found ourselves reacting to some things that happened to ourselves. As psychologists we ended up believing that there are many facets to romance that are difficult but also can be fun and amazing.'

In conjunction with the film release, Dr. Holstein is offering a free ebook giveaway of Women's Freedom, Unfinished Love Stories, 2nd Edition on June 28 and 29, 2026, available at Amazon. The book explores the struggles and desires of young women in the 1960s, focusing on sexuality, identity, and self-discovery through the stories of three college students. Dr. Holstein's work aims to empower readers by reflecting on their own rights and societal influences.

Dr. Holstein, a positive psychologist, is known for integrating Positive Psychology concepts into engaging media, including six bestselling books, workbooks for girls, award-winning films, podcasts, and stage plays. Her latest workbook for kids, Secrets, achieved bestseller status in the 'Teen & Young Adult Nonfiction on Depression' category. She also created The Selfie Showcase, a project allowing young people ages 13 to 18 to voice their opinions on important subjects via selfie videos, available at www.selfiefilmmakers.com.

The film's lighthearted approach uses an unusual scenario to explore real themes of honesty and fantasy within marriage. Dr. Holstein emphasizes that the film makes clear how confusion can lead to fun and challenges that can be handled. 'Get ready to laugh your way through this film,' she said. 'It is funny and reveals how some of life's romantic difficulties can be handled and better understood.'
