Andina Copper Reports Wide Cu-Au-Ag Intercept at Piuquenes East, Expanding Porphyry System

Drill hole PIU09 at Piuquenes East intersected 126 m of 0.46% Cu, 0.53 g/t Au, and 2.14 g/t Ag, confirming a vertically extensive gold-rich porphyry system and supporting follow-up drilling at Piuquenes North.

Andina Copper Reports Wide Cu-Au-Ag Intercept at Piuquenes East, Expanding Porphyry System

Andina Copper Corp. (TSX-V:ANDC) (FSE:FIR) (OTCQB:PMMCF) announced a wide intercept of copper-gold-silver mineralization at its Piuquenes East project in San Juan Province, Argentina. Drill hole PIU09, the third hole drilled at the target, intersected 126 meters grading 0.46% copper, 0.53 g/t gold, and 2.14 g/t silver from 529 meters depth, within a broader 402-meter interval from 253 meters averaging 0.25% copper, 0.21 g/t gold, and 1.19 g/t silver.

The results significantly expand the vertical extent of the mineralized envelope and confirm increasing gold grades and intensity of porphyry stockwork veining laterally and to depth. The mineralization is hosted within strongly veined dioritic porphyry exhibiting intense sericitic alteration overprinting potassic alteration, indicating substantial telescoping of the system and suggesting potential for a gold-rich potassic core at deeper levels.

Hole PIU09 encountered well-developed A-type veins coincident with chalcopyrite and minor bornite mineralization. Veining intensity increases downhole, with moderate to strong quartz-sulphide stockwork development locally reaching 40 to 60 veinlets per metre. Hydrothermal magmatic breccias are developed along intrusive contacts laterally to the mineralized zone.

Follow-up drill hole PIU11 is underway to test the northern continuity of the Cu-Au-Ag mineralized porphyry system. The hole is positioned to intersect a geophysical chargeability anomaly defined by Induced Polarization (IP) surveying and a coincident conductive feature identified in Magnetotelluric (MT) data. The spatial relationship between these geophysical features and the mineralized dioritic porphyry intersected in PIU06 and PIU09 represents a priority target.

Additionally, a second drill rig has commenced testing a strong, coherent, deep-seated, low-resistivity anomaly at Piuquenes North, as identified by the recently completed MT geophysical survey. The anomaly is characterized by its low-resistivity contrast and significant vertical extent, commencing approximately 600 metres below surface. In the context of Miocene-aged porphyry systems of the southern Andes, conductive features of this scale and depth are commonly associated with deep intrusive activity or magmatic-hydrothermal sources.

Integration of MT data with existing IP datasets, drilling results, alteration mapping, and structural interpretation has improved understanding of the spatial relationship between deeper conductive features and overlying porphyry-style mineralization. This relationship suggests that the currently defined Piuquenes East and Central mineralization may represent upper-level expressions related to a deeper source at Piuquenes North.
