Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has reported outstanding drill intercepts from the second hole of its maiden diamond drilling program at the Cobrasco copper-molybdenum project in Choco, Colombia. Following high-grade intersections in drillhole CDH003 (352m @ 0.68% Cu, 112 ppm Mo; including 118m @ 1.17% Cu, 193 ppm Mo), results from CDH004 have confirmed further strong mineralization, reinforcing the project's potential.
Drillhole CDH004 was completed to a depth of 900.25m, oriented to the south-west to cross-cut the dominant regional structural trend. The upper 56m intersected intermediate composition porphyries with anomalous copper and silver values up to 0.39% Cu and 393 ppm Ag. From 56m to 579m, multiple phases of rhyolite, rhyodacite and dacite were intersected, cut by thin mineralized intermediate porphyry intrusions. The strongest copper grades occurred from 579m to 686m, associated with intensely fractured magmatic-hydrothermal breccias, averaging 0.75% Cu, including a peak 2m assay of 1.70% Cu. The final interval from 686m to 900.25m featured late-stage phreatomagmatic breccias with low copper grades, which will help define the deposit's boundaries.
Drillhole CDH005, designed to test southern extensions of the mineralized system, was completed to 934m. Visual logging indicates significant chalcopyrite-dominant sulphide mineralization in dacite-andesite units, with assays pending. The continuity of intrusive phases and alteration styles supports the interpretation of a large, long-lived mineralizing system. Step-out drillhole CDH006 is currently underway, targeting potential large extensions.
