Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has reported an outstanding drill intercept from CDH007, the second hole drilled from a new step-out pad at the Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia. The results confirm a significant extension of shallow copper-molybdenum mineralization to the northwest, with the mineralized footprint now measuring approximately 1,000 meters by 500 meters.
Drillhole CDH007, drilled to the northeast from the same pad as CDH006, intersected 292 meters at 0.48% copper, 62 ppm molybdenum, and 1.7 g/t silver from 44 meters depth. This intercept closely mirrors the results from CDH006, which returned 232 meters at 0.68% copper, 75 ppm molybdenum, and 2 g/t silver from 38 meters. Both holes demonstrate near-surface mineralization that continues uninterrupted until a fault zone at 324 meters in CDH007, where grades decrease.
According to Andina Copper’s President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen, the scout drilling program is rapidly advancing. “After only 7 drillholes, the Cu-Mo mineralization footprint already covers an area of 1,000 x 500m, continues to grow with each drillhole, and remains open in all directions,” he said. “Step-out drillholes CDH008 and CDH009 are expected to further extend the drillhole-defined mineralization footprint.”
The company has completed two additional holes from the same platform, CDH008 and CDH009, with extensive visible mineralization observed. Assay results are pending for both holes. The ongoing program aims to test the limits of mineralization, and preparations are underway to mobilize a second drill rig to delineate high-grade intervals intersected in the widely spaced scout holes.
Geologically, CDH007 encountered mineralization dominated by chalcopyrite within structurally prepared zones. Near-surface saprolite and clay-rich fault gouge transition to phyllic and grey-green sericite alteration in more competent core intervals, with bornite occurring sporadically. The hole intersected magmatic breccias between 254-284 meters and 292-324 meters, hosting intense A-veins and chalcopyrite as fault gouge and fracture fill. A fault contact at 324 meters marks the end of brecciation, below which a dacitic-andesitic intrusive unit with lower grades extends to 436 meters.
The company’s Qualified Person, Francisco Montes, a consultant and member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, has reviewed and approved the technical information. The company follows rigorous QAQC procedures, with core samples sent to ALS facilities in Medellin and Lima for analysis.
