Adam Curry opened Episode 1888 of The No Agenda Show, titled "In The Mourning," alone on July 23, 2026, to memorialize his co-host John C. Dvorak, who died on July 20 at age 80. Curry called for July 20 to be recognized as a national holiday in Dvorak's honor, setting the tone for a broadcast filled with remembrances from Dvorak's widow Mimi, sons Jay and JC, and longtime friends.
The episode traced the podcast's origins nearly 19 years ago, when Curry was in London and Dvorak in San Francisco. It revisited signature bits and running jokes, including the Club 33 strip club announcer routines, the "Give it up for Raven" jingle, and Dvorak's infamous rants about ants, fisting nuts, and mac and cheese. Curry also highlighted Dvorak's encyclopedic wine knowledge, Costco Bordeaux tips, and vinegar collection, as well as the long-guarded secret that Dvorak was six years older than the New York Times reported.
"Family, today I have a hole in my heart you could turn a 747 around in," Curry said in his opening monologue, describing Dvorak as "my friend, my business partner, my comedic counterpart, my all-time favorite broadcaster." He recalled their final sign-off the previous Sunday: "Okay, talk to you Thursday. Adios." Mimi Dvorak later revealed that her husband died peacefully at home while watching NCIS, after asking for a spoonful of Manuka honey, and confirmed the age gag Dvorak insisted Curry expose after his death.
Guests included Will Hearst, who was best man at the Dvoraks' wedding and hired tech writer John Markoff at the San Francisco Examiner; comedy writer Marty, who bonded with Dvorak over Jackie Vernon and Bill Dana routines; producer Dana Brunetti; and Andrew Horowitz, Dvorak's co-host on DH Unplugged since 2007. Stories ranged from a Consumer Electronics Show dinner at the Bellagio where Dvorak ordered $8,500 in wine on investors' tabs, to a young Dvorak riding a Kawasaki Triple through Tahoe snow after a B.B. King concert.
