Vancouver's largest auction house, The Mad Picker & Direct Auctions, has announced a two-day vintage electronics auction featuring a 45-year private collection of rare audio hi-fi equipment, WWII communications gear, and other collectible electronics. The live online auction, hosted by Jeff Schwarz, star of the TV series The Liquidator, will take place on June 27 and 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM PDT.
The collection includes hundreds of items from manufacturers such as Marantz, McIntosh, Sansui, Sony, Harman Kardon, Pioneer, Dynaco, Panasonic, JVC, Philips, Hitachi, Eico, Bogen, and many more. Notable pieces include the Marantz Model 18 Stereophonic Receiver—the first receiver ever produced by Marantz—a rare vintage McIntosh Model P-50D Power Supply, a Marantz Model 2270 Stereophonic Receiver, and a NordMende Caruso Console Radio. The auction also features WWII-era radio and communications equipment, vintage testing instruments, vacuum tube electronics, radar and signal gear, amateur radio equipment, and other technological artifacts.
Schwarz, who has spent over three decades in the auction and liquidation business, emphasized the rarity of the collection. 'Collections like this rarely come to market,' he said. 'This is a true time capsule of vintage electronics. A preview day will be held on June 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM PDT at 2635 Lillooet St, Vancouver, BC, allowing the public to inspect items in person before bidding begins. The auction will be conducted live online, with worldwide shipping available.
