The Greater New York Chamber of Commerce (GNYCC) is taking significant steps to bolster its members' international business opportunities through a strategic partnership with the United States Council for International Business (USCIB), as reported by Chamber News on October 30, 2026.
This collaboration aims to provide GNYCC members with enhanced access to global markets by leveraging USCIB's extensive network and expertise in international trade. The USCIB, established in 1945, plays a pivotal role in representing U.S. business interests in international organizations, facilitating global business success. Notably, since 1969, USCIB has been managing the national ATA Carnet system in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), acting as the sole National Guaranteeing and Issuing Association (NGA) for this system in the United States.
Through the USCIB’s ATA Carnet Partnership Program, GNYCC members will gain access to a wealth of educational resources, training opportunities, and guidance on utilizing ATA Carnets. These internationally recognized "passports for goods" allow businesses to temporarily export eligible goods to 81 countries without incurring customs duties or taxes, provided they meet applicable requirements. This system is particularly beneficial for transporting commercial samples, professional equipment, and goods for trade shows, exhibitions, and demonstrations.
The partnership is designed to help GNYCC members simplify international business travel and support their global expansion efforts. Additionally, GNYCC plans to join USCIB and the International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) World Chambers Federation (WCF). This move will open doors to further benefits through a global network of chambers, fostering collaboration and offering members a platform to engage with the international business community.
These initiatives are set to enhance GNYCC’s capacity to support businesses seeking international opportunities by providing them with practical trade education, resources for navigating cross-border commerce, and a broader network of chamber relationships. For GNYCC members interested in exporting, exhibiting abroad, or expanding into new markets, this partnership presents a valuable opportunity to access the knowledge and connections necessary for international competition.
